| Who Said its Easy?
Whether you own a big or little business, it’s not easy and there aren’t too many business miracles dropping by on a daily basis. So what would be some baby steps that one might implement in 2008, considering we’re possibly going through a recession, the presidential election is come and the war in Iraq is still plodding along. First, get out of the nucleus of your business – step back for a few hours and look at your business critically deciding where the obvious weaknesses are and setting short-term goals to repair them. Patching isn’t an option this year, each business move you make must be strategic and for a valid reason. If cash flow is the most crucial problem, considering stability over too much growth. Those who aren’t monitoring cash flow daily are just flying by the seat of their pants. Consumers can’t necessarily be counted on this year, because their pocketbooks have been stretched to the limit from the holidays and the presidential election seems to place them in a state of “limbo.” Challenge yourself to work smart, hire the best of the best in employees (quality not quantity), eliminate unnecessary expenses and remember that along with everything else gas prices will probably climb to an all time high this spring and summer. Unbelievable savings can be created by doing the little things that other businesses hate to do – you need leaders who can shoulder the responsibility, watch your pocketbook and communicate well with employees. Here is something for new or established businesses that is so very true, time must be served, work performed with passion and balanced with logic or reason – there aren’t any short cuts to real success! |
